Neurological Condition Assessments (Children & Adolescents)

Neurological conditions in children and adolescents can affect cognitive, academic, emotional, and behavioural functioning in a variety of ways. Conditions such as epilepsy, traumatic brain injury, concussion, and other neurological or medical disorders may impact memory, attention, processing speed, learning, and everyday functioning. A comprehensive neuropsychological assessment helps to clarify these effects and guide appropriate support at home and school.

Who May Benefit?

An assessment may be helpful for children or adolescents who experience:

  • Cognitive changes following concussion or brain injury
  • Epilepsy-related memory or attention difficulties
  • Slowed processing speed or mental fatigue
  • Difficulties with learning or academic progress following illness
  • Challenges with attention, concentration, or executive functioning
  • Behavioural or emotional changes linked to neurological conditions
  • Reduced school performance after medical or neurological events
  • Difficulty returning to school after illness or injury
  • Concerns regarding developmental or acquired neurological conditions

Following the Assessment

Feedback is provided clearly and sensitively and includes:

  • An explanation of cognitive strengths and areas of difficulty
  • Clarification of the functional impact of the neurological condition
  • Individualised recommendations for school and home support
  • Strategies to assist with learning, attention, and memory
  • Guidance regarding accommodations and classroom planning
  • Recommendations for further intervention or referrals where needed

If your child or adolescent is experiencing cognitive, emotional, or academic difficulties following a neurological condition or injury, please contact us to discuss a comprehensive neuropsychological assessment.
